Do you need to evaluate your infrastructure?

In addition to the normal aging and refresh cycle that companies go through with their I.T. infrastructure, there have been two big changes that have occurred in the last few months that have led many organizations to start working with us to create a plan to replace and upgrade their hardware.

  1. In October Windows Server 2012/2012 R2 stopped being supported by Microsoft and many software vendors. This leaves Windows Server 2016 as the oldest operating system that is supported. We know many organizations were not able to upgrade their systems in time and would appreciate some assistance.
  2. In November Broadcom purchased VMware and has since ended VMware’s perpetual licenses in favor of a subscription-based model. For many customers of VMware, this has come with an annual renewal price that is 10x what they previously had been paying. This has led them to start wondering what other alternatives there are.

Sonit is a long-standing partner of Scale, not only in recommending and installing their solutions to the companies we work with but also hosting our own internal environment on a Scale cluster. We have firsthand experience with deep insights into the robustness and efficiency of their offerings. While Scale is not the right fit for everyone, we invite you to explore their solution with us. If we find for some reason that Scale isn’t a good fit for you, we will help you find and implement another solution.

Why do we choose and recommend Scale?

  • Homegrown and based in the USA with their offices in Indianapolis, Indiana.
  • We work with a lot of vendors and can say that Scale’s support stands out as exceptional. Their support team is extremely helpful and responsive, ensuring that any issues are resolved promptly and efficiently.
  • Continuing the theme of exceptional support – with Scale, you have a single point of contact for both software and hardware troubleshooting, simplifying the support process.
  • The interface outshines VMware’s by offering a more streamlined and user-friendly experience, seamlessly combining simplicity with comprehensive functionality.
  • Scale solutions come with complete redundancy across compute and storage, ensuring that your data is always safe, and your systems are always up and running.

Thinking about moving from VMware and have some questions?

How hard will it be to migrate my workloads from VMware to Scale?

  • We here at Sonit can take care of the complete installation and migration of your existing servers to your new Scale equipment. While each organization has distinct needs and servers, we are frequently able to make the transition with near zero downtime.

Do I need training on Scale’s Platform?

  • No! Nothing like what is required to be proficient with VMware. Scale’s tagline is “Simplicity Engineered” – meaning they take very complex systems and wrap them in their user interface to provide a very easy-to-manage solution. The concepts of virtualization/VMs remain the same between both VMware and Scale.

Will my apps be supported when running on something other than VMware?

  • Yes! In fact, with thousands of customers running Scale Computing, there is a strong possibility that existing users are running your exact applications. Scale supports and offers fixes for their hardware and virtualization platform and they fully support Windows and Linux operating systems. Therefore, applications designed to run on Windows and Linux operating systems should be supported by their vendors with the hypervisor being transparent to them.
